| Hi
I am buying a house near Bombarral and wondered if anyone could recommend furniture shops. Do you have to order and then wait a length of time for delivery? It is a bit of a problem having to try and co-ordinate this sort of thing from the UK!

| Moviflor are a big furniture store throughout Portugal You can check out their website at http://www.moviflor.pt/portal.pl?cat=LOJASEverything is to order and can take between 1 and 4 weeks in my experience to be ready. They have two prices on their furniture, one with and one without delivery so you can choose whether to have a delivery or collect. Depending on when you want the furniture, there are people that can collect and deliver the furniture for you and may be cheaper than asking moviflor to do it. | |

| Our dining table and chairs took 8 weeks from Moviflor - but it was worth the wait and they warned us it would be 8 weeks.
Their sale items are often fantastic value and lots more in store than either in the catalogue or on the web site !

| Moviflor also have a reject section in store so you can get massive discounts. Over Chrismas I saw a leather suite reduced from over €1000 to about €250.
And yes the sales are great. We bought a could of wood and metal single beds for €49 each.

| A conversation with someone yesterday reminded me of somewhere else to get good value furniture. If you are any where near Tomar, there is a second hand furniture warehouse on the same block as lidl. The company is called Heroy and the owner is dutch. He has some great sideboards, suites, dining suites and some beds. Most of the stuff has come from holland so expect it to be a little on the chunky side but very robust. He is quite happy to haggle so you can get some great deals. | |

| I'm not keen on Moviflor, I have often found that if you go to an independent furniture store, and are prepared to haggle a bit, you get some better quality furniture with a few freebies thrown in. We got my sons furniture for his bedroom like that it is top quality and very hardwearing, unlike the three piece suite we got a Moviflor, which was terrible quality, still suppose it depends on the luck of the draw! | |

| We vowed never to go to Ikea in the UK at the weekends after doing it once, some time ago. I see it is the same here...it is a very popular store and most weekends and holidays will be very busy, so if can go midweek it will be a much more pleasurable experience. | |

| We've bought furniture from Heroy in Tomar - and are very pleased with it. He always gives a discount, and takes it to your vehicle.
On another subject, how about the members of the forum hiring a minibus and organising a trip to IKEA - possibly midweek when it is not so busy? Or is there a bus going that way on a regular basis - that I don't know about?

| Hello Lizzie, we are just up the road from you at Cadaval. There is a great furniture store on the main road between Lourinha and Peniche just past Airia Branca. They are called Camilo & Reis, Estrada National 247-Casal da Murta-2530-077 phone261 471121 We have bought some stuff from them and were very happy with the quality (lots of the furniture comes from italy) the deal we struck and the delivery, all unwrapped put in place and wrappings removed in the van. The owner is Joe and both him and his wife speak good English. If I can be of help to a neighbour let me know. Best Regards Alex | |
